Apple fritters

Ingredients

For the dough:

  • 500 g flour
  • 30 g sugar
  • 10 g baker's yeast
  • 270ml of milk
  • 30 g butter
  • 1 egg
  • 2 bags vanilla sugar
  • A dash of liquid vanilla
  • A pinch of salt

For the garnish:

  • 4 apples, peeled and diced
  • The juice of a half lemon (to prevent browning)
  • The juice of a half orange
  • 3 to 4 sachets vanilla sugar
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • A dash of liquid vanilla
  • A knob of butter
  • Caramel sauce (to your taste)

Preparation

  1. Prepare the dough: Mix the flour, sugar, yeast, milk, egg, butter, vanilla sugar and liquid vanilla. Mix and knead the dough until smooth, adding a pinch of salt. Cover and let rise until doubled in volume.
  2. Prepare the filling: Saute the diced apples with the lemon juice, orange juice, vanilla and sugar in a pan. Add a knob of butter and cook until the liquid has evaporated. Add the caramel sauce and let cool.
  3. Assemble the donuts: Punch down the dough and divide it into about 10 small balls. Roll out each ball into a circle, place a spoonful of the apple mixture in the center, then fold the dough over, sealing the edges firmly with a little water.
  4. Fry: Fry the donuts in hot oil until golden brown on both sides.
  5. Serve: Sprinkle with icing sugar and enjoy!
