Ingredients
- The protein: Leftover grilled chicken, lamb or beef (cut into small pieces).
- The basis: Mini sandwich buns (milk buns or small round buns) or fries.
- The sauce (creamy and spicy):
- Mayonnaise.
- Ketchup and mustard.
- A little hot sauce or pepper flakes.
- Fresh toppings:
- Sauteed onions (often leftovers too).
- Fresh parsley or green onions.
- Sliced tomatoes or cucumbers.
- The “Plus” Flavor: A drizzle of soy sauce or liquid culinary flavoring to “refresh” the meat.
Instructions
1. Wake up the meat: Don’t just microwave it! Heat a little oil in a pan. Add the remaining meat with some chopped onions. Add a drizzle of soy sauce or a little water to retain moisture. Saute for 3 to 5 minutes until hot and sizzling. This restores juice and the taste of the “party”.
2. Prepare the creamy sauce: In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard and a little black pepper. This sauce serves as a link between the dry bread and the flavorful meat.
3. Assemble the mini-sandwiches: Cut your mini loaves in half. Spread a generous layer of sauce on both sides. Top the buns with the meat and sautéed onions. Add fresh herbs or tomato slices for a fresh crunch that will make you forget it's leftovers.
4. Make garnished fries (optional variation): If you have leftover fries (or fresh ones), place them on a plate. Place the warmed meat and onions on top. Drizzle everything with the creamy sauce.
