Granola

🥣 Homemade Granola (Healthy and Handmade Granola)

Ingredients

  • The Dry Base:
    • 500 g of oatmeal.
    • A mixture of nuts (almonds, cashews or peanuts).
    • A pinch of salt.
  • The Binder (Sweetener and Oil):
    • 100 ml of honey (or maple syrup).
    • 50 ml coconut oil (or vegetable oil).
    • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
  • Additions (To be added AFTER cooking):
    • Dried fruits (raisins, dried cranberries or coconut shavings).
    • Optional: Chocolate chips.

Instructions

1. Preheating and preparation Preheat your oven to 150°C. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. Mix dry and wet ingredients In a large bowl, combine the oats, nuts and salt. In a separate small bowl, whisk together the honey, oil and vanilla. Pour the liquid mixture over the dry ingredients and stir until each oatmeal is lightly coated.

3. Cooking Spread the mixture evenly on the baking sheet. Press it down lightly with a spatula (this helps create crunchy “nuggets”). Cook for approximately 25 to 30 minutes, stirring halfway through cooking to ensure even browning.

4. The secret of cooling Remove the tray from the oven when the granola has a nice golden color. Don't touch it! Let it cool completely on the plate. It only becomes crispy once cooled.

5. Add the fruit Once cooled, add your dried fruit or chocolate chips. Store in an airtight jar to keep the granola fresh and crunchy.
