Ingredients
- Tamarind (Dakhar): Fresh peeled pods.
- Shrimp: Fresh sautéed shrimp and dried shrimp.
- Vinegar: For acidity.
- Sugar: To balance the acidity of the tamarind.
- Lemon juice: For an extra tangy touch.
- Spice blend: A mixture of pepper, salt and broth powder.
- Water: To adjust the consistency.
- Chili pepper (optional): Added for extra spice.
Instructions
- Prepare the tamarind: Place the tamarind in a mortar. Pound it until the pulp softens and begins to fall apart.
- Add liquids and seasoning: Transfer the tamarind to a bowl and add the vinegar, lemon juice, spice mixture (pepper, salt, broth) and sugar. Mix well.
- Adjust the consistency: If the mixture is too thick, gradually add water while stirring until smooth and slightly creamy.
- Add the shrimp: Add the sautéed shrimp and dried shrimp to the mixture. Stir to combine all the flavors well.
- Final seasoning: Taste and adjust the sugar, salt or chili to your preference to achieve a “sweet-salty and spicy” balance.
- Serve: Transfer to a bowl and enjoy as a snack or side dish.
