Carrot-Orange-Apple Juice (Vitamin Cocktail)
Ingredients
- 4 to 5 large carrots (peeled and cut into rounds).
- 3 to 4 oranges (pressed into juice).
- 2 large apples (red or Granny Smith, cored and cut into pieces).
- 1/2 lemon (pressed, to avoid oxidation and add pep).
- 1 small piece of ginger (peeled, optional for a spicy touch).
- 500 ml to 1 liter of cold water (depending on the desired consistency).
- Sugar of choice (Optional): Honey, agave syrup, or a little sugar according to your taste.
Instructions
1. Prepare the ingredients:
- Peel the carrots and cut them into small pieces to make mixing easier.
- Remove the core from the apples (keep the skin for more nutrients if using a high-powered blender, otherwise peel them).
- Squeeze the juice from the oranges and half a lemon.
2. Mixing:
- Put the carrots, apples and ginger in the blender.
- Add the fresh orange juice and about half the water.
- Blend on high speed until the mixture is as smooth as possible.
3. Filtering (The “Sala” method):
- As this juice is not made in a centrifuge, it will contain pulp. Pour the mixture through a fine strainer (sieve) or a clean vegetable milk bag into a carafe.
- Use a spoon to squeeze the pulp to extract every last drop of juice.
- Add the rest of the water if the juice seems too thick.
4. Adjust flavors:
- Add the lemon juice.
- Taste the juice. If the apples and oranges weren't sweet enough, add your favorite sweetener and mix well.
5. Refrigerate and serve:
- Place the carafe in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
- Pro Tip: Serve in tall glasses with plenty of ice cubes. Garnish with a slice of orange or a sprig of mint for a professional look.
Why it works:
This combination is a classic for good reason: the carrots offer a beautiful orange color and subtle sweetness, the apples give body to the juice, and the citrus brings a vibrant freshness
