Ingredients
- Egg yolks: 2
- Whole egg: 1
- Sugar: 3 tablespoons
- Milk: 200ml
- Fresh cream: 100ml
- Orange blossom water: 2 caps
- Vanilla extract: A net
- Thick slices of bread: Brioche type or unsliced sandwich bread
- Butter: For cooking
- Vanilla sugar: For sprinkling and caramelizing
- Toppings: Chocolate ice cream, whipped cream, caramel sauce and red fruit coulis.
Instructions
- Prepare the mixture: In a bowl, combine the egg yolks, whole egg and sugar. Beat with a whisk until the mixture turns white.
- Add the liquids: Pour in the milk and crème fraîche. Mix again with a whisk.
- Flavor: Add the orange blossom water and vanilla extract. Mix well.
- Soak the bread: Dip the thick slices of bread into the mixture, letting them soak on both sides until they have completely absorbed the liquid.
- Cooking: Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Place the soaked bread in the pan and cook until nicely browned on both sides.
- Caramelize: Sprinkle vanilla sugar over the bread while it's still in the pan, then turn it over to let it caramelize slightly over low heat.
- Serve: Once nicely browned and caramelized, arrange the French toast. Serve hot, garnished with chocolate ice cream, whipped cream and a drizzle of caramel sauce and red fruit coulis.
